Job Description:
Reports to: Marketing & Engagement Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and evaluate a programme of access and education projects for diverse audiences and learning resources based on the collection, agreeing the target audiences and delivery mechanism with the Marketing & Engagement Manager on an on-going basis.
- Plan and deliver on-going management of Folkestone Artworks and ensuring that relationships with the collection’s stakeholders are managed and maintained as appropriate.
- Plan and deliver an on-going conservation programme for the works within the collection and ensure the artworks are maintained to the highest possible standard.
- Work with the Triennial team to ensure all the mechanisms and procedures are in place to welcome some of the Triennial 2014 artworks within the Folkestone Artworks collection.
- Work with the Triennial team in organising the Triennial archive in order to make it accessible as a resource for research and educational purposes.
- Monitor the insurance and planning status of the works within the collection.
- Devise a marketing plan to maximise awareness of and access to the collection, in conjunction with the Marketing & Engagement Manager, and deliver the agreed plan as directed.
- Assist the Development Manager in researching funding and income opportunities relating to the collection.
- Work closely with the rest of the Creative Foundation team in building a sustainable creative environment and community that attracts visitors and tenants alike.
- Undertake such duties as may be required to successfully realise the purpose of this role.
Terms and Conditions
This is a 4-day per week, permanent position.
Salary: £20,500 pro rata per annum
Person Specification
Essential
- Broad knowledge of contemporary visual art
- Solid experience in researching and communicating background and context of visual artworks and artists
- Experience of helping people engage with contemporary art
- Proven success in instigating and developing productive relationships with external stakeholders
- Experience of working within an organisation, or similar, to immovable deadlines and tight budgets
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Diplomatic and effective service and supply contract management skills
- Logical, process-driven approach to project planning and problem solving
- Good devolved budget management skills
- Calm, focussed and motivated under pressure
- Enthusiasm for community engagement in public art
- Discretion and confidentiality
- Positive response to working in a target-driven environment
- Hard working and energetic
- Committed to Folkestone’s regeneration through the arts
Desirable
- Understanding of current curriculum and teaching contexts within primary and secondary education
- Understanding of current curriculum and teaching contexts within higher education

- Accurate and engaging writing style, ranging from concise promotional copy to detailed background documents.
