Aukje Lepoutre Ravn is the new curator at Röda Sten Konsthall.

Aukje Lepoutre Ravn (b. 1979) is a Danish art historian, writer and independent curator.  She comes from a position as director of the renowed exhibition space Traneudstillingen in Hellerup, Copenhagen (2010-2014). Ravn’s research interests and curatorial practices focuses on minor historical and cultural narratives and phenomenon, that question and destabilize hegemonic forms of knowledge production. Ravn’s recent curatorial projects include New Garden City in collaboration with Art & Innovation Hub, Traneudstillingen, Copenhagen (2013), Sympathy for the Invisible, Fundação Ecarta, Porto Alegre, Brazil (2012), SALVAJES- Digesting Europe Piece by Piece co-curated with Guillermo Creus, (2012) Traneudstillingen, Copenhagen including artist Luis Camnitzer, Carlos Motta, Jonathas de Andrade, Melanie Smith and Wilfredo Prieto among others, Peter Brandt: I Died In Italy But No One Knows It, Traneudstillingen, Copenhagen (2010) and The Eye in the Door at Nikolaj Kunsthal, Copenhagen (2009) including Omer Fast, Paul Pfeiffer, A.K. In 2013 she participated in the curatorial residency program at Residency Unlimited, New York. Prior to her curatorial work Aukje Lepoutre Ravn has worked as art consultant for various architectural offices in Copenhagen.

”The position as curator for Röda Sten Konsthall motivates me tremendously. From my previous position in Copenhagen, I have followed Röda Sten Konsthall over the last few years and seen it developed into an influential and dedicated art institution – not least through the ambitious engagement in GIBCA – Göteborg International Biennial of Contemporary Art. Not only does Röda Sten Konsthall play an important role in bringing contemporary art’s role in local and regional settings into public debate, but it also succeeds in placing Göteborg on the international map of noticeable art institutions, showing the way through great social engagement and a remarkable art educational program”

“My ambition is first and foremost to continue the path of the strong contemporary artistic vision of my predecessor Edi Muka and contribute to the inspirational dialogue that Röda Sten Konsthall is already offering its audience and the community of Gothenburg. But I also want  to put  emphasis on developing  the artistic program for Röda Sten Konsthall, so the synergy between the very attentive GIBCA-period every second year, and the qualitative exhibition- and activity program that Röda Sten Konsthall produce continually, becomes more integrated and transparent.

Furthermore, Röda Sten Konsthall is housed in a fantastic old furnace station and located uniquely under the Älvsborg bridge on the western banks of Göta älv. The natural interaction between the industrial building and the open surrounding environment offers great potential for artistic interventions. I look forward to contributing ideas for projects that can activate and reinvent these qualities – both inside and outside of the gallery spaces.

Aukje Lepoutre Ravn will be living in Gothenburg.
