To be curated by Colin Huizing and Cees de Boer, the Rietveld Pavilion presentation will include his 1974 installation “to be all ways to be” as well as new works. These new 3D installations will center on “deserted and overgrown islands in the Venetian Lagoon,” according to a press release from the Mondriaan Fund. “De Vries considers nature to be the ultimate reality model and his goal is to demonstrate its immanent-poetical quality.”

A jury composed of Hester Alberdingk Thijm (Director of the AkzoNobel Art Foundation), Saskia Bos (Dean of the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art), Aernout Mik (visual artist), and Martijn van Nieuwenhuyzen (Curator of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam) chose the work from four other proposals.
