In light of the current development of the Corona virus, SARS-CoV-2, the HEART museum has decided to postpone the SOCLE DU MONDE BIENNALE, which was scheduled to open on 25 April 2020. Instead, the biennial will become part of the museum’s exhibition programme for 2021.

‘Given the current Corona virus situation – in Denmark and internationally – it would not be possible for us to carry out the biennial at this time’, says director of HEART, Holger Reenberg.

‘The vast majority of the works to be featured in the biennial come from countries other than Denmark, as do the participating artists, and at this stage it has become clear that the many restrictions on transport and travel mean that sadly, it would not be realistic for us to present an exhibition according to our original vision by the end of April.’

The biennial – which includes exhibitions at HEART, the Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt Museum, Textile Museum, HHHerning and public spaces in the city of Herning – will still be realised; it will simply be pushed back a year.

‘The decision to postpone was made after consultation with all the exhibition venues involved, and we are all very grateful for the sympathy and understanding we have received from the funds and donors that have supported the exhibition. Their continued goodwill means that the biennial can be realised in 2021 on the same terms as originally planned’, Reenberg concludes.
