International Biennial Association Summit

The Bluecoat, School Lane, Liverpool

The International Biennial Association Summit brings together international representatives of the IBA with professionals worldwide that organise periodic and Biennial festivals, to collectively explore a range of Biennial models.
In Liverpool we have been developing a model of an international Biennial that is continuous and operates in the city through ongoing strands of research and production, recognising the complex and interrelated networks locally and connecting them to national and international contexts and partners. Against this backdrop, the summit will focus on three key questions: What is necessary (t)here?; How is the Biennial and the identity of the city intertwined?; What models are needed for the future?
Participants include: Yongwoo Lee, Gwangju Biennial; Evelyn Holm, Bergen Assembly; Nevenka Sivavec, Ljubljana Biennial; Alya Sebti, Marrakech Biennial; Alia Swastika, Jogja Biennial; Monica Hoff, curator and researcher; Tan Boon Hui, Singapore Biennial; RoseLee Goldberg, Performa; Alisa Prudnikova, URAL Biennial; Sally Tallant, Liverpool Biennial, and Marieke van Hal, Biennial Foundation.
