The artistic programme for the Biennale Bénin 2012, “Inventing World: The Artist as Citizen”, is inspired by history, by the Beninese and African contexts, and by art’s orientations and current engagements on a global scale. The International Exhibition at the Centre Kora brings together a collection of existing artworks and new productions, certain of which will be produced during residencies in Benin.

The process of selecting artworks is conceived in dialogues between members of the Curatorial Delegation, starting in April 2012, with international artists including Adel Abdessemed, Edwige Aplogan, Aston, Ismaïl Bahri, Frédéric Bruly Bouabré, Gabriella Ciancimino, Nestor Da, Adrian Missika, Raqs Media Collective, Ebtisam Abdul Aziz, Tomas Colaço, Pélagie Gbaguidi, Dor Guez, Camille Henrot, Meschac Gaba, Dominique Zinkpè, Otobong Nkanga, Syl Paris, Younès Rahmoun, Tchif, Jean-Paul Thibeau, Cyprien Toukoudagba, Vincent+Feria and others.
